Pine Tree Power Speaker Series

On November 7th, Maine voters will be asked, “Do you want to create a new power company governed by an elected board to acquire and operate existing for-profit electricity transmission and distribution facilities in Maine?”

At Maine Youth for Climate Justice, we do! We believe a nonprofit utility company owned by and for Mainers will benefit young people, future generations, and the climate. This October, we're hosting a three part speaker series organized by youth for youth leading up to the election so we can all learn more about consumer-owned utilities and how Maine would benefit from one.

Join us for the second call in this series on Tuesday October 10th at 6pm! We'll explore the benefits of a consumer-owned utility through a climate justice lens. We'll learn how consumer-owned utilities work and what will happen when Question 3 passes. We'll ask what are the fears, misconceptions, and myths about this ballot question?

Both youth and adult allies are welcome to attend this speaker series. Please note that we will prioritize youth questions on these calls. Register here to join us on October 10th!

The speaker for our second webinar is Jonathan Fulford!

Jonathan is a carpenter and lives in Belfast where he serves on the Belfast Energy Committee. He is a member of the Sierra Club Executive Committee, represents Sierra Club on Maine Climate Action Now, and is a former democratic candidate for U.S. Congress in Maine’s second congressional district.
